The Council is responsible for supporting Sustainable Livelihood Programs for the Youth. This entails business training, grant accelerator, business mentorship and coaching activities which the Council does in collaboration with strategic partners. The aim of this program is to give young people a head-start to achieving their lifelong goals in entrepreneurship. It is also meant to bring about business growth and resilience by closing the gaps within weak links amongst the entrepreneurial aspirations of the youth and further create linkages where-by the youth can further access resources from lending institutions such as the Youth Enterprise Revolving Fund (YERF), Fincorp, EIDC and local banks.
Through this program, the ENYC is working towards introducing aspiring entrepreneurs to financial literacy and business management to give them a head-start. This should be a “vehicle” which will capacitate these aspiring entrepreneurs to be responsible financial managers and business managers which will further attract the banking sector by demonstrating knowledge and understanding in running an enterprise. The ENYC will continue to establish strategic partnerships with the banking sector to leverage on creating sustainable relations which will target prioritizing the youth in accessing finance to grow their enterprises.
The other aspect of the livelihood program is the TVET startup kit support program which is aimed at supporting TVET graduates with various start-up tool kits. This approach is meant to assist young people to set up business enterprises and commercialize their skills set.
