Mindset Change Program - ENYC

Picture 20

The primary target for the mind-set change pathway is to assist young people to achieve a transformative orientation towards distinguishing between perceptions and reality regarding the challenges they face in the quest to creating livelihood means. This pathway is crucial for building the capacity of the mind to distinguish between perceptions and reality. The liberation of the mind is critical for diversity of thought and embracing new and emerging patterns of creating sustainable livelihoods.

The Council conducts these sessions targeting young people from all walks of life. These include young people in Constituency settings, youth groups affiliated to youth-serving and youth-led organisations or youth in tertiary institutions. So far, the program has reached over 1000 young people since its inception in 2024 with 400 who were trained through the Insika Yelikusasa Lensha YeSwatini Project.

Post the training, the Eswatini National Youth Council is receiving positive testimonials resulting from the aftermath of the mindset change training; young people are beginning to relate and identify their purpose for living, with some already engaging in small scale businesses in their communities to create livelihoods.

In essence, there is evidence of young people beginning to take an interest in their livelihoods. The response rate of youth that are expressing interest has increased significantly. There is need for continued training and engagement on mind-set change coupled with mental health training to experience acute behavior change towards entrepreneurial programmes for livelihood purposes.
